Granites Join Other New England Vintage Clubs in Father’s Day All-Star Game

On Saturday, June 19th members of the NH Granite joined the Melrose Pondfielders, Mudville Nine, Boston Beaneaters and hosts Essex Baseball Club in the second annual New England Vintage Baseball All-Star Game held at the Spence-Pierce-Little Farm in Newbury, MA. After ditching the first game to Essex led by the brilliant pitching from 1967 American League Cy Young Award winner Jim Lonborg, the Granite and their comrades lost the second game by a slim margin of 4-3. But in the final game of the afternoon they more than made up for their earlier foibles by a 16 – 11 rout of the men from Essex. The cranks were out in full spectrum and it was a spectacular day of 1861 era baseball….
